Driver Magician

Driver Magician offers a professional solution for device drivers backup, restoration, update and removal in Windows operating system. It identifies all the hardware in the system, extracts their associated drivers from the hard disk and backs them up to a location of your choice. Then when you format and reinstall/upgrade your operating system, you can restore all the "saved" drivers just as if you had the original driver diskettes in your hands.

Remove the register button from the help menu once it's registered

The presence of the register button in the help menu once this software has been registered can be misleading. Uers especially novice users may be confused - that said, if you click the button it will tell you whether you are registered.

Include an auto-update facility so that when new drivers become available you are notified immediately without having to run a scan of your computer.

This could be accomplished by ensuring the program runs on startup.

This program is telling me I need to update some drivers that are already updated to the latest versions.

I keep on top of my driver updating as I know how inportant it can be for a stable computer. Your database needs updating more frequently (maybe)

The information pane included with Driver Magician is almost useless. The developer needs to update to include more details about all drivers.

This could be accomplished by enabling information from users to be uploaded to the developer for inclusion in the application.

Include an auto updater that automatically updates the executable that you have created for updating a new install of your operating system.

This would take away having to remember to update the exe file every time you update your drivers.

Create a network version so that you can see if any computer on your home network requires updated drivers and be able to create the exe file for each one from the main computer

This would be really useful in case you had a problem accessing one of your computers due to a serious fault and wasn't able to access the faulty computer and which required a format. This would ensure you had the execxutable with the saved...

Will the live update work for the giveaway version of this software, or will we be required to purchase a licence to use it?

If we do use it will it invalidate the licence due to the terms and conditions which state "No free upgrades to future versions" Also, if I mistakenly press the button is there a fail safe so that I can cancel the update before it starts or...

Expand the language options from the tools button. There are only 12 language options at present.

Maybe offer lifetime licences to anyone willing to translate to a newe language or dialect.

Allow user to specify the folder name in the 'browse' dialog.

The default folder name:- 'Drivers backup' is not very useful. Even just adding the current date would be beneficial.

download the drivers direct from the manufacturer not a 3rd party website. example would be intel drivers.

Its making me download the driver from some 3rd party website for Intel when you know that it would be many times faster geting it directly from intel.
